Suffering from IBS? Physicians are increasingly prescribing a low FODMAP diet for patients with irritable bowel syndrome, to help them identify the specific foods that trigger IBS symptoms like diarrhea, gas and abdominal pain, distention and bloating.

"There may be foods that are healthy but that you can't process well," said Dr. Jennifer Lowney, a colorectal surgeon in private practice in Plano. "And everyone is different."
