A Compassionate Colon and Rectal Surgeon in Denton, TX
Dr. Cox is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. She earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, followed by her general surgery internship and residency at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport. She completed her fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Cox’s practice encompasses all colorectal health services. In addition to performing screening, diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, Dr. Cox treats a broad range of colon and rectal diseases and disorders including colon and rectal cancer, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, fissures, fistulas, hemorrhoids, and fecal incontinence. She has a special interest in robotic-assisted colon and rectal surgery, particularly with the use of the daVinci Surgical System.
Providing compassion to her patients is the foundation of her practice. “I want my patients to know I am here to support them through their entire journey, not just to only provide colorectal care,” said Dr. Cox. Her main mission is to educate, support and lead her patients through what can sometimes be a difficult path. “I want each of my patients to feel that they can openly communicate with me, not just about the diagnosis or treatment plan, but about any of their concerns,” says Dr. Cox.
Proudly Serving Communities Here and Abroad
Dr. Cox has always had a passion for community outreach at home and abroad. In addition to serving in the Peace Corps in Africa, Dr. Cox was able to work a medical mission trip to Ley Cayes, Haiti during her general surgery residency.
She is excited about the opportunity to begin private practice and bring her experience to help patients. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, hiking, biking, kayaking, crocheting and traveling.
